She is proficient in a wide range of areas, including safety instruction, infant and preschool lessons, youth lessons, adaptive swimming, competitive swimming, and introductory swim team training.
Marena holds Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Red Cross Lifeguard certifications. Specializing in working with children, she has taught swim lessons at numerous local facilities. She began her career in 2019 at Mercury Swim Institute, under the mentorship of Patricia Safford. After the institute closed in 2021, Marena continued her work with youth at the Scantic Valley Branch YMCA.
Currently, Marena teaches swimmers of all levels at Worcester Fitness Swim Academy and serves as an assistant coach with the Worcester Fitness Flyers introductory swim team during the school year.
Passionate about water safety, Marena is dedicated to providing swimming opportunities for families who may face challenges with traditional swim lessons. In spring 2023, she launched Swim Lessons by Marena, offering mobile, at-home swim lessons across Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut.
Tori joined Swim Lessons by Marena in 2024, combining her strong swimming background and passion for teaching into every lesson she leads. As a former competitive swimmer, Tori's skills in the water were showcased in her signature backstroke, where she earned a first place title her first year in the water. She has completed the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course and the Red Cross CPR course, giving her the expertise needed to ensure safe and effective swim instruction while assisting young swimmers. Beyond her swim instruction, she has a background in caring for children as a babysitter, a role where she honed her skills in keeping spaces clean and tidy, overseeing children responsibly, and ensuring their needs are always met.
She has a remarkable ability to connect with children and create a fun and supportive learning environment. She works closely with the swimmers and their parents to help them achieve their goals, whether it’s mastering foundational swim techniques or building confidence in the water. As an aspiring teacher, she uses patience, encouragement, and communication to foster meaningful progress for her students.
